Globe Artichoke has a long history of use as a food and medicinal agent. Traditional use has always pertained around the liver, where it is considered to help increase bile flow and act as a protective agent against a variety of various toxins.
Today it is used for jaundice, reflux, nausea, gout and urinary stones.
Dosage:
Not to be used by people with a known allergy to globe artichoke or other members of the Asteraceae/ Compositae family of plants.
No not use if you have bile dust obstruction acute or severe liver disease, septic cholecystitis, intestinal spasm or ileus, liver cancer or with unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia.
Safety in pregnancy is not known. Avoid use.
Adverse reactions:
Globe Artichoke is generally well tolerated mild symptoms may occur like flatulence and increased hunger.
