Devil's Claw
Devil's claw is native to southern Africa and has been used throughout history as a bitter tonic for digestive issues and also to reduce pain symptoms. It has been used in Europe for the treatment of rheumatic conditions for over 50 years and was first cited in literature by Zom at the University of Jena, Germany, who described his research on the anti-arthritic effects after administration of liquid preparations in patients with arthritis.

Dosage:
2-4ml 3x daily in a small amount of water/juice
Safety Concerns:
Not safe in pregnancy
Adverse reactions:
Devil's claw is wel ltolerated. Mild digestive upset may occur in 3% of patients.
Drug Interactions:
Warfarin : May potentiate the effects of warfarin do not use Devil's Claw in this case
Anti-arrhythmic drugs : theoretical interaction best not to use Devil's claw when on this class of drug.
